To promote awareness and encourage proactive measures, WIHS has released an article on this critical topic. It delves into the four types of workplace violence, offers examples, and underscores the importance of robust and timely reporting mechanisms to identify trends and enhance workplace safety.

Finding a mentor can help guide you on your career path. Look for someone who understands your challenges and can offer valuable insights. Don’t hesitate to ask those you feel can be good mentors! And remember, mentorship is a two-way street; you can also mentor someone else.

Professional Development: Skills That Matter!

Healthcare Security Emergency Department Specialist Kalen Stewart, Antioch Medical Center, Northern California - Life Saving Award

Kalen Stewart assisted another officer in getting a member who was experiencing a medical emergency into the Emergency Department from the parking lot, resulting in the member receiving emergent cardiac care 

in time, which contributed to saving their life. This is one of the 18 lives saved by our teams in 2024!

1. Communication: Clear, confident communication helps us advocate for ourselves and others.

2. Conflict Resolution: Learn how to handle disagreements professionally. This skill is vital in healthcare security settings.

3. Leadership: Seek out opportunities to lead small projects. This builds confidence and showcases your abilities.

Seek Feedback: Regularly ask for feedback from peers and managers to identify areas for improvement. Constructive criticism can help you refine your skills and become more effective in your role.
